From group projects to student org discussions, meetings are a useful tool for innovation, and production through meaningful connection and engagement. However, they are often misled and ineffective. In this workshop, we will discuss and learn how to improve connection and engagement in order to conduct effective meetings.

In most conversations, it's easy to not know what to say or how to respond. During this workshop, we will go over active listening and practice skills through different activities. No matter what your major, the skills we practice can be applied in any situation both personally and professionally.


Learn by Doing: Exploring Opportunities Outside the Classroom at UCSD | Marshall College Room

This workshop will concentrate on self-reflection, career exploration, and pursuing learning opportunities outside of the classroom. Facilitators will guide students through a career exploration activity, prompting them to reflect on their personal and career values, interests, and goals. Subsequently, participants will delve into experiential learning, understanding its definition, examples, and available opportunities at UC San Diego across all academic levels. Furthermore, facilitators will address how to communicate the value of students' extracurricular experiences to employers and graduate schools through the Co-Curricular Record (CCR), which also serves as a platform to discuss UC San Diego Competencies. This discussion encourages students to assess their strengths and areas for development, while prompting them to learn by doing.


Crafting Your Narrative: Leveraging Personal Stories in Interviews |  Cross Cultural Center: Art Space

In this session, students will dive into the art of crafting a compelling narrative to showcase your unique identity and experiences in interviews. We will explore how to weave personal narratives into your interview responses, highlighting your experiences, values, and strengths while maintaining humility. The workshop will discuss the delicate balance between humility and self-promotion in interviews, especially within diverse cultural contexts. Students will craft their own narrative that they can utilize in future interviews to discuss their goals, strengths and professional development.


Combatting Comparison Culture | ERC Room

Comparing ourselves to others is a common, everyday occurrence. These comparisons are often part of an automatic process that can have damaging consequences to our wellbeing. This workshop is aimed at learning more about the origins of comparison culture, looking within to reflect on our own tendencies, and discussing practical strategies for combating the negative impacts of constant comparison.


Changemaker 101 | Bear Room

UC San Diego has been designated a Changemaker Campus since 2017 by Ashoka U, an international organization that recognizes exemplary campuses that excel in social innovation and changemaking. This workshop will introduce students to the Changemaker 101 curriculum while also teaching new ways to make a positive social, environmental, and restorative impact in their community. Participants will leave having identified Changemaker efforts they might want to pursue and how they can connect with others in bringing about change.
